FerryShare charges an 18% platform booking fee on the ride cost, capped at $9.00 CAD. This is charged through the app when you book. The driver is paid directly in cash or e-transfer at pickup โ FerryShare does not handle driver payments.
Platform Credits are issued in lieu of cash refunds when you cancel a booking within 24 hours of departure, or when a driver cancels after chat has unlocked. Credits are automatically applied to your next booking and expire 12 months from issuance.
30 minutes before your scheduled pickup, you'll receive an in-app notification asking you to confirm your attendance. Confirming lets your driver know you're on your way. If you don't confirm in time, the driver may cancel the booking penalty-free and you will not receive a refund or credit.
Open the booking in the app and tap Cancel. If you cancel more than 24 hours before departure, your booking fee is refunded to your original payment method. If you cancel within 24 hours, Platform Credits equal to the booking fee are added to your wallet.
If the driver cancels before chat unlocks (12+ hours before departure), you receive a full refund. If they cancel after chat unlocks, you receive Platform Credits and a strike is recorded on the driver's account. Drivers who accumulate 3 strikes are automatically suspended.
Go to your profile and tap Verify Identity. Verification is handled securely through Stripe Identity and costs $2.99 CAD (one-time). It is required after 30 days of account age to continue posting or booking rides.
Email support@ferryshare.com within 7 days of the ride date, including your booking ID. We will review check-in records and respond within 3 business days.
Yes โ FerryShare works perfectly for reserved sailings. BC Ferries reservations specify the number of passengers at booking time, but if you check in at the terminal with more passengers than originally booked, the ticket agent will simply charge the additional passenger fares at the booth. No advance changes to your reservation are required.
BC Ferries offers discounted Saver fares when drivers book their crossing in advance and pay in full. A Saver fare is the total amount the driver paid BC Ferries to cross โ it covers both the vehicle and the driver's own passenger fare combined. When a driver has paid a Saver fare, they enter this total amount when posting a ride on FerryShare, and passengers automatically benefit from the lower cost. The driver certifies their exact total BC Ferries fare at the time of posting. FerryShare stores a timestamped record of every certified fare for transparency and audit purposes.
